Type 10

This tenth type appeared in 1882 and was distinguished by the presence of a star and crescent. It was used in a few offices in the Delta, some neighborhoods east of Cairo, and in Aswan and Dongola during the easing of the blockade imposed on Khartoum in 1885. This type is particularly important since it is considered to be the rarest of Egypt’s cancellation stamps. Its main feature is the name of the post office in French in the upper half, with the crescent and star directly beneath it.
