KARNAK

Karnak is 6 kilometers from Luxor. Its name in the pharaonic language means ‘the city that has elegance and dignity’. Karnak includes the religious complex of ancient Egypt and UNESCO declared it a World Heritage site in 1979.  Its collection of large temples, built over the centuries, had the most impact and influence on the religious beliefs of Egyptians. These temples were dedicated to various major deities at different times in Egypt’s long history.
