Bagur is a city whose original name was Bigorre. It was mentioned by this name in the Dictionary of Ibn Mamati. In 1228 AH it was known by the public as Al-Bagur, as in Bagur center. Ali Mubarak mentioned Bagur in his book where he stated that it is one of the villages of Menoufia, and it has five mosques with respective shrines.
