ABU TIG

Abu Tig is a city on the western side of the Nile. It is an ancient city that is famous for its historic palaces and houses that date back to the Pharaonic era, and to early Coptic and Islamic times. Al-Farghal Mosque in Abu Tig is the largest mosque in Upper Egypt, and many people come to Abu Tig every year in July to visit this mosque and attend Al-Farghal Fair.

Abu Tig is also an industrial trade city, with wholesale companies, a timber industry, and a branch of the Arab Company for Cotton Ginning, as well as a branch of the Eastern Company that trades in perfumes. There is, as well, a factory for the production of aluminum, and a factory for packaging imported tea under the brand names of Al-Moftah Tea, Royal Club Tea, and Al-Saraya Tea. There is another industrial area in the nearby village of Al-Zorabi. During holidays and feast days, people from all over Upper Egypt come to visit Nasr Zoo in Abu Tig’s Nasr Park
