Port Tewfiq is four kilometers from Suez and 154 kilometers from Cairo. It is at the entrance to the Suez Canal, and the majority of people living there were employed by the Suez Canal Company. The buildings erected in Port Tewfiq were initially built in the European style in 1869 when the Suez Canal was first opened.
