ABOU HOMMOS

Abu Hommos was built on the ruins of an ancient city called Shabrias which, in the era of the old Arabs, was known as Shabrabar. Its name was then shortened to Shanbar. In the year 1838 AD its name was set out in the records of Al-Buhera Directorate as Abu Hommos Manor.  The city continued to be well-known by that name in the works and books of the financial sector, while in the administrative sector its name was maintained as that of Abu Hommos without the addition of the word ‘manor’.
