EBNOUB

Ebnoub is a city located on the eastern side of the Nile. Its name consists of two parts: ‘Eb’ and ‘Noub’ and the meaning in hieroglyphics is ‘Land of Gold.’ Ebnoub central district includes some archaeological areas containing monuments that date back to the Pharaonic and Roman eras, and they are found in old temples there. This district also includes historic sites important to the Coptic Christian community, such as the Monastery of Martyr Marmina Al-Agayby, known as Commentator Monastery, and also the marine monuments and Al-Jibrawi Monastery.
