RAS ELKHALIG

Ras El-Khalig is a village that overlooks the Nile and its history dates back more than 1,000 years. Its name was mentioned in historical accounts of the Abbasid era.  It is so named because the Nile has many branches that extend into the Delta and this village was the meeting point for the fishermen who gathered in Ras El-Khalig, which means Head of the Gulf. It is famous for being the home village of Abd-Allah El-Nadiem, the poet of the Arabi Revolution.
