Batanun is a village located 31.2 kilometers north-west of Shebin El-Kom city, the governorate capital.

Ali Mubarak, the historian, mentioned that Batanun was also known as ‘El-Batanon,’ and that it is located in Melij central administrative district, under the jurisdiction of Al-Menoufia governorate.
