Type 2

This type was first used in October 1867 at most post offices until July 1872. It contained the words REGIE POSTE EGIZIANE instead of POSTE VICE-REALI EGIZIANE. The word REGIE was then removed from the cancellation because the Ottoman Sultan thought this word indicated the ruler of Egypt was the king. This was, of course, untrue since the ruler of Egypt during this period was no more than a governor under the control of the Ottoman Sultan. The diameters range from 27 mm to 30 mm.
