Maghaga city overlooks the Nile and is known for its important agricultural crops of wheat, sweet corn, onions, soya and cotton.  Its industries include the Port Said Company for cotton ginning, Nasser Company for agro-crop dehydration, Bertbat Mat Factory, and a factory for the dehydration of green onions.  

Tourists visit Maghaga to see the Kom El-Ahmer antiquities area in Sharona, the Qarara antiquities area, the Bertbat ancient monuments region, and the Sharona antiquities region.
