ISNA

Isna has two arches, the first of them was built by the English in 1906, during the reign of Khedive Abbas Helmy II, to store flood water to be used in agriculture. The second arch was built for the purpose of generating power and preserving water of irrigation. They include two locks to enable tourist steamboats to pass through. These locks were built by an Italian company in 1995; the second lock was opened in the fall of 2008. They are charmingly beautiful.
