 Toura’s most famous landmarks are Toura Prison, Abdul Moneim Riyadh Mosque, which was established in 1969, and the areas of Al-Akhaa and Toura Al-Asmant where the Toura Portland Cement Factory is located. The addition of these companies has enriched the cultural life in and around the region and presented a number of advantages to its people. There is also Shaq Al-Taban Company for manufacturing marble, which is exported all over the world. Toura was known by the ancient Egyptians as ‘Toryo’ and was Egypt's largest source of limestone, which was used in building tombs.
